Pool Rules

General Facilities
  • 1. All facility privileges are limited to members and their immediate families living in the same household.
  • 2. Members must sign in at the guard hut.
  • 3. Guests
    • Guests must be registered at the guard hut.
    • A fee of $3.00 must be paid or a 2006 guest pass redeemed for each guest between 2-65 years of age.
    • Non-swimming guests will not be charged.
    • All guests must be signed in at the guard hut by a member of the pool.
    • All guests must be accompanied by a member for the duration of their visit.
    • Guests who live outside of Wake County may come with a member an unlimited number of times as long as the appropriate guest fee is paid. A summer-long pass may be purchased for $40 to cover all out-of-county guests of a member during one summer.
    • Members may bring up to 10 guests in one day. If a member desires to bring more than 5 guests in a day, he/she should notify the Manager on Duty. If a member desires to bring more than 10 guests on any one day it must be cleared with the Club Rental Agent as this is considered a private party subject to other restrictions and fees.
    • In the event of special situations, these will be handled by the Manager on Duty.
  • 4. No one is allowed inside the snack bar service area other than staff or persons operating in an official capacity for the pool.
  • 5. Members should enter the club through the lower gate near the snack bar, except for special circumstances or during special events.
  • 6. Normal operating hours for the membership during the summer season are as follows:
    • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday 10 AM - 8 PM
    • Wednesday 12 NOON - 8 PM
    • Friday 10 AM - 9 PM
    • Sunday 1 PM - 8 PM
    • Exceptions will occur for team meets, weather, and school schedules. These exceptions will be posted at the pool and on the website.
  • 7. All child-care providers must be registered with the club using the proper form obtained from the Pool Manager or a board member. Childcare providers must be 16 years of age or older. Non-member child-care providers cannot bring guests. There is a limit of 1 registered child-care provider per member unless approved by the Pool Manager.
  • 8. A member parent or child-care provider who is registered with Northbrook must accompany children under 9 years of age. Although we allow children 9 years of age or older to come to the pool on their own, we reserve the right to revoke this privilege should discipline or other problems arise with a particular child. Should you send your child to the pool without supervision, the pool must have emergency contact information, so you can be notified if we have to close the pool early, send your child home, or have other issues arise. Parents, not Northbrook Country Club, are ultimately responsible for their children.
  • 9. The creek and all other unimproved areas of the property are off limits at all times.
  • 10. Use of the playground is limited to children 10 and under.
  • 11. The baby pool is reserved for children age 7 and under.
  • 12. The Snack Bar is available to all Northbrook members and their guests. The snack bar opens daily when the pool opens and closes 60 minutes before the pool closes. The Snack Bar is operated on a cash basis although members can purchase Dolphin Dollars for $5 per card. Each Dolphin Dollar has a $5 value.
  • 13. No pets are allowed inside the fence. This is a Wake County Health Dept. rule. Compliance is required.
  • 14. Lost and Found items will be disposed of every FRIDAY. These items will be donated to charity if not claimed by then. Items of value will be disposed of in a reasonable manner after being unclaimed for a period of time. The pool is not responsible for items left on the property.
  • 15. Please do not bring or eat food on the pool decks. Eating is permitted anywhere other than the pool deck. However, eating is permitted at umbrella tables at the edge of the deck, which have been set-up for this purpose. All members are asked to see that available trash receptacles are utilized. Please help keep our pool clean for the next visitor which may be you.
  • 16. It is illegal to consume mixed drinks on the club property, except at parties or designated times when the proper license is displayed as required by law. No beer or other alcohol can be consumed during swim meets, dive meets or tennis matches. No smoking is permitted inside the fenced-in grounds.
  • 17. The pool will close early (approximately eight times) during the season. For home swim meets, the pool closes at 4pm (Tuesdays-3 or 4 times) and for home dive meets the deep end closes at 4:30pm. Between 4:30pm and 6pm there will be dive meet set up which takes priority, pool closes at 6pm (Thursdays-3 or 4 times). These dates will be posted and publicized each season along with any exceptions or additions to these dates and times. Please see the website or the Pool Manager for more details.
  • 18. For your safety, all club employees and members of the Northbrook Board of Directors are authorized and directed to enforce these rules.

SWIMMING POOL RULES

  • 1. It is an NC State Law that swimming pool patrons must take a shower before entering the pool.
  • 2. There is to be no swimming allowed unless a lifeguard is seated on the lifeguard chair or unless there is a supervised swim team or diving team practice underway.
  • 3. Swimwear only is allowed in the pool. NO CUT-OFFS OR DIAPERS ARE ALLOWED.
  • 4. The Pool Manager and/or the lifeguards are authorized to clear the pool, the deck, the grounds and the tennis courts whenever dangerous conditions exist. Rain will not necessitate pool closure; however, extended rainy periods or low temperatures may result in closure until conditions improve. Pool management will use the resources available to make these decisions appropriately.
  • 5. Please do not distract the lifeguards from their duty, except to report an accident, an unsafe condition, or to ask permission. Arguing with a lifeguard is grounds for immediate removal from the facility. Minors who violate this rule will have their parents or the responsible adults notified.
  • 6. Masks, fins, and snorkels can only be used with a lifeguard’s permission. Rafts and “noodles” may only be used during slow times of the day and with the permission of the lifeguard on duty.
  • 7. Toys that can be dangerous to others are not allowed in the swimming pool. This includes Supersoaker-type water guns, tennis balls, and sharp objects. If in doubt, ask the lifeguard on duty.
  • 8. Absolutely no glass containers are allowed in the pool facility.
  • 9. The lifeguards may eject anyone from either pool for running, pushing, horseplay, imitating a drowning person or threatening the welfare of others. Lifeguards will blow their whistles at those not complying with the rules. The guards have the discretion to stop any activity they deem dangerous.
  • 10. Adults must accompany and watch children in the wading pool. Lifeguards do not patrol the wading pool.
  • 11. Swim team lane ropes, skimmer lids, the deep-end rope, and other pool fixtures are to be moved or adjusted only by the staff.
  • 12. Only one person at a time is allowed on the diving board. One bounce is permitted per dive. Divers should exit to the side of the pool nearest the board. Horseplay or any other behavior considered dangerous by the staff or lifeguards is not permitted while on the diving boards.
  • 13. Swimmers should never dive or swim through the roped-off lap lane/s.
  • 14. On weekends and at the discretion of pool management, lifeguards may call a ten-minute adult swim (for 18 and overs) hourly between 12noon and 6pm.

TENNIS COURT RULES

  • 1. Play on a court is limited to 90 minutes when others are waiting to play.
  • 2. Only tennis shoes shall be worn on the court area. No street shoes or other footwear are allowed.
  • 3. Please remember tennis etiquette and good sportsmanship at all times. Courtesy to members playing on adjacent courts should be exhibited, particularly during the playing out of a point, and entering and exiting from the courts.
  • 4. Guest regulations pertain to the tennis courts as well. The tennis courts are to be used for that purpose only; violators may be charged for any damages. No skateboards, roller blades, bikes, or similar devices are allowed on the courts.

Repeated and/or willful failure to follow any of these rules is grounds for ejection from the club facilities for an extended period of time, and for revocation of membership.(with no refund of membership dues.)
